It is Wedding season again !!

Month of May was like a pot pourie in a sense. There are very few days in life which you love to store in the deepest of memory lane and very few you tend to erase off. May 2013 was like a mixed month with days spanning between both these extremes. Though work vice it was about chasing deadlines, code deliveries, escalations still i relished those 30 days (31). How nice is it to see off your once nandu cindu cousins getting married or nandu cindu of your siblings or cousin’s kid doing something cute. Ah!Moments to freeze.

May had been “THE MONTH” of marriages for me with very close cousins getting married. Not sure is it the bride or groom being elated about getting hooked but it is certainly the close relatives on either side. It is quite a scene to watch stereotypical activities of certain groups in typical south Indian marriages.

Notable mentions would be of a) Aunties ( how can one be called when they are just in their lllaate 30s!!!) showcasing their latest gold/Narayana pearls accessories and costliest kancheevarams rather RMKVs/ Nallis/Palams

b) Uncles talking about boring politics/ education system in India rather their kids Onsite experiences.

c) So called “young uncles” (married in span of 10-15 years) discussing about Project managements, resource utilizations, taxations. Beg your pardon it is not between themselves like the former but they tend to scream into their Bluetooth, loud enough that the music party(thavil vidvans) wondering if they are their strict competitors

d) Wifey’s of such Young uncles with a perfect makeover either gossip around or equally scream into their bluetooth (May be they are talking to each other???)

e) Kids or teenagers sulk for coming but are hand tied either texting or glued to their PSPs

All said and done it is only the close circle of cousins (girls to be precise) or friends of the bride who steal the show. In the name of helping her get ready with proper attire, accessories or makeup, they get their share also done :) (Ore kallu rendu mangai). Self was one such privileged soul donning the role in one of my close cousin’s wedding. All went great until I met this guy at the dais

For you to understand why and what we need to go in for a small flashback (Essss the typical kosuvathi … Non-Tamil movie buffs excuse). It was a wonderful Monday morning (Ah what a day to get married) I was getting married to this guy who tends to put an appavi pullai face in front of elders. Having becoming comfortable with his nature, never felt tensed during the marriage day and was chatting with him all the while.

On one such instance he casually commented

He: “Edho oru rendu naal kothukku evlo selavu paru . Whats the use ?”.

I said rather lectured “ In a way correct dhan ana this is lifetime once dhane pa. We will remember it forever and see all relatives have gathered. Everyone is happy and they tend to meet each other in marriages only la. So many rituals, slokas recited which have their own superior purpose and we will get so many blessings …. Blah blah blah “

As I went on he cut me short (poor me ) giving gyan “Ama edho pona jenama piravi palan dhan indha jenmame . Enna pannalum namma thalai ezhuthu dhan “

All this while we never realized the Chief Vadiyar was ottukettufying what we spoke . Adding to my misery, he spoke in whisper whereas I spoke in my usual sound speaker voiceJ. As I turned to give a cold stare, Vadiyar called out saying it was time for me to change into the muhurtha pudavai!

Ah I sighed having got some more extra time to strengthen my point ( nama ellam last minute devathais only ), I got ready and came back to the dais.

While I tried looking into Hd, he raised eyebrows and with a smirk said “Enna counter argument ready pannitiya ??” (Appa evlo nalla purinju vechirukkan )

Thinking I was talking in whisper I blurted “ Nee solradhellam correct ah ve irukkalam , life after death ellam irukkalam but enna porutha varaikkum let us live the current moment, enjoy life and not think too far “

He smiled and said “ Chappaya mudichitte but its ok “ (appaaa tharaalam)

All went fine until this Vadiyar post the marriage rituals with a loud voice commented to my mom “Nan evlavo kalyanam panni vechirukken but ponnu mappillai life after death pathi pesi kettadhu illa “. Needless to say, my mom whose eyes was moist with ananda kaneer went red with anger :( and again you would have guessed who was in her firing line!
Kosuvathi ends

If you try doing the knots here (simple onnum onnum rendu ), yes it is the same guy sitting here as the “Vadiyar” for my cousin wedding. He promptly identified me, parapified this incident to the whole bunch of people making me go red.

Hd came near me and said “ Pathiya naan anikke sonnen la enna pannalum vidhi valiyadhu “ . Guess what I did came here and polambified :D

Should I or Shouldn’t I

I turned on my side to stay cuddled to Shyam. I asked him the same question again,”Shyam, Should I or Shouldn’t I “.I get to hear only a slight hmmm from him. This position of mine made me visualize the sweet reassuring smile of him even in his sleep. The same smile which made me have a second look at him even the very first instant I met him. The same smile which assured me before he went on to convince our parents, the same smile which ruled over my fear when we tied the nuptial knot.

Feeling the confines of his warmth, I start wondering how the magic of Shyam was bestowed on me. It all started 2 years back when I went on to work for a team in a new workplace far from my stay to which I can never imagine to drive. Cursing my manager for moving me to a team for a while which is completely new to me, I sat by the window seat of my office bus. Suddenly I heard a soft but deep male voice gesturing me to move my belonging so that he could take the seat next to me. Mesmerized by the magnificence of the voice, I almost dropped the book in my hand. With a gentle smile he bent down and handed John Grisham’s “THE INNOCENT MAN” to me. I could not stop wondering if this man is an innocent man as his smile echoes. I chuckled again at the thought of how I was drooling when I first saw him. Was it his smiling face held high in my favorite dark blue shirt? The slightest movement in me made Shyam tugging me closer to him.

It became a routine for us to sit close by every other day thereafter which started with a gentle head shake assuring the presence, proceeding to good morning wish, helping each other board bus on time later on to discussions about our job which grew to extents of mutually waiting to board bus based on work schedules. It never took us so long to realize that there was something beyond friendship happening between us. It was a wonderful feeling I had in my life realizing that there was someone close to my heart to whom I could blurt out whatever crap I think, who sensed slightest of my emotions and attended to it with utmost sensuality, on whom I was so possessive, mad and emotional about. My heart skipped beat if I missed every instant when I try reaching out to him and could not. There had been times when we went on arguing long , but long enough sensing the need to give importance to mutual feelings ,we ended up accepting what the other had suggested. Moments which still make me to relive them contentfully yet again.

“Enough of day dreaming sweetheart .It time for us to get ready to office” I hear Shyam whisper gently in my ears. Such simple acts of him make me crazy about him. I still wonder how like a magician he is able to revitalize all senses of mine drawing my attention only to him. As I carry out my daily chores I remember how I had blurted out to him during our earlier days “Shyam do you realize how you drive me crazy?” He gently pulled me towards him looking through my eyes and ended up saying “Aishu, you give words to your feeling but I relish believing it dear!”

Since the day I have been closer to Shyam, I have look forward to him for any major decision. Though I was so close to my parents I never gathered enough confidence to explain to them about Shyam. I feared that I could not take rejection from them in any form concerning me and Shyam. It was he who again gave me enough confidence and made me open up to them and make them understand what I actually felt. God bless everything worked out fine and we were blessed to take up the journey of life together. It was with this thought I had asked Shyam yesterday about his views on the suggestion by geetha. But I never could understand what he really felt. His face was impassive and the look in his eyes never conveyed anything to me as it usually does. First time since I met Shyam, I felt a sudden chill rise in my stomach. He was so alien to me.

With racing thoughts in my mind, I had been getting ready to work just like a robot. A word was never uttered in reply to my question except the hmmm. Silence between us was relished many a times but this silence was quite haunting. An air of uneasiness was passing which made it more difficult to handle. I felt like screaming at top of my voice “Shyam please end this. I could not take more. Say yes or no. Let us not proceed any further like this. It hurts badly. It hurts deeply.”

Silently he had his breakfast and when he was about to leave picking up his laptop bag he turned around to look at me. My face being an absolute reflex of my mind relayed my thoughts to him. He opened up his hands and gave the same reassuring smile. What more could I ask for? I ran to the warm confines of his arms and held him close to me. He immersed his head the crook of my neck and made me feel his warm breath which conveyed his love for me. Sensing my tears, Gently pressing his lips against my forehead his voice was sounding like a velvet cloth rubbing its softness against me, “Aishu Sorry dear It took me so long to reply to you but I wanted it to sound convincing .“I stopped him mid way and asked him “So you found a reply convincing enough for me is it now tell me Should I or Shouldn’t I “.

Drawing me closer to him he looked me into my eyes, an act which generally conveys thousands in an instant, he said “Aishu, you generally blog on varied topics, write stories be it of any genre but why should you write our own story? Let others be aware of the one liner You and I met, became friends, shared interests in common, fell in love and got married. Why give them every specifics of it as a story? Even though your words would convey the apt feelings I don’t think ours should be a story to be blogged because,”

“Because” I ask provocatively unable to hide my curiosity. Smiling though his eyes he replied “Because stories have a start and an end ours can never have an end. You and I will love each other forever!” Wanting to show my jubilation I hugged him closer radiating my feelings and I could in turn comprehend the reciprocation from Shyam too!

P.S: This Story is dedicated to my dear blogger friends who are together stepping into a new phase of life! Wishing them to have the permanent Masks of joy experiencing Ecstasy re-lived moments.

நான் உடனே எப்பக்கத்துல இருந்தவளுக்கு "Don’t talk else he will punish” எழுதிட்டு நோட்ஸ் எடுக்கறாமாதிரி ஒக்கார்ந்துகிட்டேன்.

ஆ.பொ: "Sir I cannot understand Tamil, can you please explain in English” ன்னா.

Certified Blogger

You want to know how you can get a status of Certified Blogger. Wonder how a blogger can be classified as Certified or not? Key to the question can be derived from the below conversation of a group of “OMR Cousins”. Have you started wondering who they are I can tell you it is most simple. Group of people who are related personally, who communicate through mails/chats/mobile though being on the same stretch of a road while they as well share code snippets occasionally but forwards regularly and draw out plans for their monthly day out sorry monthly evening out through the above referred means of communication.

It was once during such an evening out that I acquired the gyan of how one can transform to a CERTIFIED BLOGGER! Let us assume it was a group of 6 people rads, sow, vas, srivi, rags and rams! On a pleasant Friday evening (should be right its weekend buddy) all 5 of us got to meet in a chat shop following the typical custom of tasting (!!!!) other’s order first rather than yours.

While everyone was busy pursuing the fight between their respective ;) hand and mouth, sow suggested we got to do something innovative for our kutti cousin’s (thought they are in college we feel they are still young) bday celebrations during the annual family meet. And the crux of the conversation was,

Sow: hey people we got to do something different people rather than the usual cake, cream make up, gifts stuff.

Rags: hey sow, do you then plan to drop the cake idea this time?? I bet it is the funniest part, how nice to see our younger cousins having a nice makeover with that.

Srivi: Rags, we both had a chat yesterday its when we thought we will some think more interesting apart from the usual chattar-battar.

I chipped in to play my part, “I have an idea. Why don’t we have something like a dumb c where we mimic like a person and when the group identifies who it is, we can send him/her on to the stage. Would be total fun. Our Bada people can also join in.

Rads: hey yeah that sounds good. Can we have something else like say we use some pictures drawn to identify the person?

Vas: People why go for hard copies yaar lets try to have a Presentation. See I am not the typical BA guy here

Sow: Why u give a disclaimer vas? You sound so everywhere. But I should say it’s a nice idea too. (Smirk).

Rads: Hmm yeah I have a plan! You see rams is into blogging these days and she says she wanted to pursue it seriously. So we can have her write few lines about a person and have them on to a presentation. Once the group who it is, we can invite him/her on to the stage.

Seriously tasting my Aloo paratha I never realized that I was being dragged on to this. Seeing the puzzled look on my face my BA cousin chipped in to convince me.”I seriously feel rads idea is cool. You have been blogging for quite some time and I have never seen a poem posted in your page (not sure if he had read my blog either once but I believe his management skills helped him concluding things here :P). Why don’t you try one for this reason? It is a win-win situation. You get a post for your blog and a novel idea for our celebration. As a hidden benefit you earn the status of a Certified Blogger. The Logic is straight here, you need to have atleast a story and a poem hosted in your blog and so when you have this posted, you earn the status don’t you??”

Following his explanation a round cheer was in vas’s favor and to ensure I work on my task a cheer was in my favor too :D. Hence was coined a new term “Certified Blogger”. Below are the 4 different sets of lines on each of our kutti cousins I presented from my side. Seed is sown so watch out guys you might experience reading posts with verses tagged as poem not bothering if qualify to be so :P

Damsels

She is sweetly called Krits
Coz she is sharp at her wits
She might appear laid back
But she never faces set back
As you get to meet (her)
You realize she is a budding poet!!

She resembles an actress
Truly at heart a real princess
She is good at art, making
Pieces which steals your heart
As she goes her way
Everyone be happy merrily her lips pray!!

She is a Cute damsel
Talking to her jubilance is what you feel
Gracious is her dance
Impresses you at first instance
Befriends you with her sweet temperament
Smile stuck to her face is permanent!!

She is our Little Pony
Who could bet Dhoni
Though not Physically
But of Course Athletically
Up the Air she Soars
Cheered by ecstatic roars!!

My Experience With Bus

Every Person would have been on buses to either School/College/Office/MTC. I have experienced/recollected some momentous funny experiences while I travel by bus. I always cherished the idea of traveling by train. Not just because of the cozy factor involved but I feel when I travel by a train especially in upper berths, I am sleeping in a swing with the Train whistle being my lullaby (hmm wish I travel in a train right away: P)

Being a kid, I rarely had an opportunity to travel by bus to school but the little I did was during excursions where we use to enjoy singing songs, playing pranks on friends everything under stern supervision of our teachers. Even during such occasions we would sit by the windows and yell out at people riding bi-cycles “அண்ணா/ அக்கா வீல் சுத்துது வீல் சுத்துது” :P. We keep giggling while they stop to wonder what had happened to their vehicle.

College Bus travel remains one of the best moments of my life. Traveling for nearly 2 hours on a National Highway without the disruption of buzzing vehicles is a real pleasurable experience :)During first year we got the taste of ragging in bus when seniors asked us to sing/dance near the backseats while the staffs doze off in the front rows ;) But later we did find good friends among them and enjoyed playing antakshari, listening to cricket scores while traveling, trying to imitate staffs, chatting on silly topics umpteen number of times :P which ended up in we people being more skilled in handling group discussions :P

We even went to the extent of proving people it is no big deal completing ED (Engineering Drawing) work in bus ;) Travel made us more proficient in reading books in bus, understanding course contents ;) during semesters, and more importantly learning tips for preparation of quicker dishes for breakfast/lunch! Wonder how ?? Having to take bus at early morning(??) 7.00 am we forced to have breakfast in bus and we end up sharing simpler such recipes from our friends as well staff members :) . Brings back nice moments, friendships shared also with staff members which came in handy many a time ;)

Four years after college I did regret that I would miss my bus travel :)! But bang I found the most notorious gang to travel to training center ! I was skeptical for a while concerned about company for girly talks as I was the only girl in the bus during initial days but god save all my friends were so good that we all shared a perfect wavelength. Fact is our company buses operating in our routes never had company logos. All we had was a verrrrrrryyyy tiny note displaying route number. Adding to the agony for few weeks we had a different bus operating on each day. It was really dramatic how we would identify our bus. Ours being the second stop from the start we hardly had a person boarding at first stop. As we were four people in our stop we used to make each one standing in say 20 to 30 m distance at 4 points. First position where one could spot our bus(???) arrival would be decided based on the sheer sharpness of a person’s eye. If the first person spots/ guesses that a bus which might pick us approaches our stop, he would alert the rest of the gang and we all would move closer to ensure if it is our bus(??) and boarded it. If it wasn’t our bus (bad luck huh :( ) we all would resume our positions and the loop continued until we boarded the bus :) (All Smiles -> Target Accomplished). Even this procedure was quite enjoyable as it was only for initial days as we could establish a more connected network by then Thanks to the CUG plans offered :)

Till date bus travel makes me really happy and when you establish a good friendship it becomes more interesting. Just imagine this it is almost 9.00 pm on a Friday Evening :( and as always though you wish to leave early but you are forced to stay due to stiff deadlines :(. You complete your code bang at 8.55 pm and send a status mail to onsite and you are already on your heels to catch the last bus at 9.00 pm . But poor you struck up at last floor you quickly make a call to your friend (who is already in bus waiting for you to join him/her ) and ask them to stop the bus. You enter the elevator, press the floor button. Huh you wonder to see so many such poor souls like you on every floor. Yeah your BP level shoots up. You could see people biting nails, trying to make call to some bus-mate (yet another soul receiving curses for delaying the start ) very well knowing that they could not make one until they come outside the elevator. Like the final countdown of a rocket launch you wait for the lift doors to open. Seeesh !! You see everyone making a rush from the elevator pushing people with a sole aim of catching the bus. You then realize what it means to be goal-centric/what is the definition of Hawk Eye ;) I can also afford to say “ To Know the value of Milli Second ask a person who misses the bus in spite of displaying wonderful sprinting skills “ ;)

Ah! I bet this being the most thrilling moment than a One dayer where it is win/lose and here case being you making it to bus/missing :(. Try to watch out for such moments next time when you are in rush to catch last bus. It would be thrilling for the moment but I am sure it will be 100% relief when you make it to bus with a beaming smile stuck to your face as if you have made it to THE MOON :)

MTC Bus Travel is still more interesting experience. But Personally I am more allergic to morning travel by bus because of டிபன் பாக்ஸ் சூடு you experience from fellow travelers :P. But it is also lively as you get to see more interesting people. Wish everyone have such memorable experience with a safe journey!!
