'குழல்இனிது: யாழ்இனிது' என்பதம் மக்கள் மழலைச்சொல் கேளா தவர் அப்படீன்னு சொல்வாங்க.மழலை மொழிங்கரது கேட்க்கும் போது அவ்ளோ நல்லா இருக்கும்.நாம எல்லாருமே பொதுவா சின்ன வயசுல நிறைய மழலை மொழில பேசியிருப்போம்.இப்பகூட நம்ம வீடுங்கள்ள,நாம பேசினத சொல்லிட்டு இருப்பாங்க.ஏன்
உதாரணத்துக்கு எடுத்துகிட்டீங்கன்னா,எங்க வீட்ல என்ன வெச்சு நக்கல் அடிக்கர ஒரு விசயம் இருக்கு. நான் ஒரு ஒன்றரை வயசு குழந்தைய்யா இருக்கும்பொது ஜன்னல் கிட்டஉட்கார்ந்து வேடிக்கை பாத்துகிட்டே இருந்தேனாம் அப்போ தெருவுல"ரூபாயிக்கு ரெண்டு"னு குரல் கேட்டுட்டு "அம்மா தெருவுல ரூபா விக்கரானாம்.ஒரு ரூபா கொடுத்தா, ரெண்டு ரூபா தருவாராம்.போய் வாங்கிக்கோ"ன்னுசொன்னேனாம்.அம்மா போய் பார்த்தா தெருவுல எலுமிச்சம் பழம் வித்தாங்களாம் :P.

என்னோட கசின் ஒருத்தனுக்கு "க" வராது."த"ன்னு தான்சொல்லுவான். அவன் ஒரு நாள் எங்க வீட்டுக்கு வந்து "பெரியம்மா அம்மா டீவதிதத்தி தேதாந்த"னான்..எங்களுக்கு அவன் சொல்றது என்னானு புரிஞ்சுக்கவேகொஞ்ச நேரம் பிடிச்சது.அவன் கேட்டது டீ வடிகட்டி!!

அவன ஒரு நாள் கோவிலுக்கு கூட்டிட்டு போனா அர்ச்சனைபண்ணும் போது நட்சத்திரம்,ராசி கேட்டா நான் சொல்றதுக்கு முன்னாடியே"நான் தண்ணி ராசி மாமா"ங்கிறான்..அப்புறம் தான் தெரியுது அவன் சொல்ல வந்தது"கன்னி"ராசின்னு:)

இப்படி மழலை மொழி கேட்க்கும் போது நமக்கு ரொம்பவே சந்தோஷமா இருக்கும்.என்னோட பெரிய பொழுதுபோக்கே நண்டும் சிண்டுமா நாலு பசங்களகூப்பிட்டு வெச்சு விளையாடறது தான்.கள்ளம் கபடம் இல்லாம வெகுளியா நீயாநானானு போட்டி இல்லாம வெளிப்படைய்யா பேசும்.

ஆனாநான் அப்படி வாண்டுங்களோட பேசி விளையாடி "பல்பு" வாங்கிருக்கேன்.எங்க வீட்டு பக்கத்துல ஒரு சின்னபொண்ணு ரெண்டு வயசு ஆகியும் பேசாம இருந்தான்னு அவங்க அம்மா வருத்தபட்டாங்க.ஆனா அவ பேச அரம்பிச்ச அப்புறம் எல்லாருமே வாய் அடச்சுபோனோம்.அவளுக்கு நான்னா செம லொள்ளு,நக்கல் எல்லாம். அவளோட நல்ல கதை பேசறது,விளையாடறதுன்னு ஒரே ஜாலியா இருந்தேன்.

யாரோ கண்ணு வெச்சு, நடுவுல ஆணி அதிகமாகி இன்னிக்கி நாள் என்னானு தெரியாம ஒரு மாசம் ஆப்பீஸே கதின்னு இருந்தேன்.ராத்திரி ஆபீஸ்லேர்ந்து வீட்டுக்கு வரும் போது அவளும் அவங்க அம்மாவும் அவங்க அப்பாக்காக வெயிட் பண்ணிகிட்டு இருப்பாங்க.

இப்படி இருக்கும் போது,
ஒரு நாள் எங்க அப்பா ஏதோ அசோசியேஷன் பத்தி பேச அவங்க வீட்டுக்கு போயி கதவதட்டினா, இந்த அம்மா ஜன்னல் வழியா எட்டி பாத்துட்டு "அப்பா நம்ம ரம்யாவோடஅப்பாதான்பா கதவ தொற"ன்னு சவுண்டு விட்டிருக்கா."யாரு டா ரம்யா"ன்னு அவ அப்பா கேட்டா "தினம் ராத்திரி பிசாசு வர நேரத்துக்கு வீட்டுக்கு வரீங்கனு அம்மா சொல்லுவாங்க இல்ல,அதே மாதிரி வருவா ரம்யாவும்".இதை கேட்ட அவருக்கும்ஷாக்கு,எங்க அப்பாவுக்கும் தான்.நாம வீட்ல எப்படி பேசறோமோ அதையே தான்குட்டீசும் பேசும்.அதனாலே நாம பேசும் வார்தைகளை பார்த்து பேசனும்
(ஸ்ஸ் அப்பா கருத்து சொல்லியாச்சு).

எங்க அம்மா வீட்ல சில குட்டி பசங்களுக்கு டியூஷன் சொல்லிகொடுப்பாங்க.அதுல நந்தினினு ஒரு பொண்ணு நல்ல சேட்டை பண்ணுவா. நான் மேலசொன்ன குட்டி பொண்ணு என்ன கிண்டல் பண்ணதால பீலிங்ஸ் ஆகி (சும்மா கிலியன்ட் செர்வெர் டவுன் ஆனது தான் உண்மை) 6 மணி பஸ் புடிச்சு வந்தா எங்க வீட்ல படிச்சிட்டு இருந்த அவ "என்ன அக்கா எப்ப வந்தீங்க ஊர்லேர்ந்து"னா."என்ன நந்தினி நான் ஊர்ல
தானே இருக்கேன்"னு சொன்னா

"உங்கள பாத்தே ரொம்ப நாள் ஆச்சா அதான்"ங்கரா..இதை கேட்ட எங்க அம்மா ரியாக்க்ஷன் நான் சொல்லவே தேவைஇல்லை..சரி விடு ரம்யா இதெல்லாம் உனக்கு சதாரணம்னு நெனைச்சிட்டு விட்டுடேன்.ஆனா விதிவலியது..விடாம அவ "ஏன் அக்கா இனிமே எங்களோட எல்லாம் விளையாட மாட்டீங்களா எப்பவுமே ஆஃபீஸ்தானா"அப்படின்னு சொன்னா. எங்க அம்மா நடுவுல வந்து ஏதாவதுசொல்லிருவாங்களோன்னு
"ஏய் நந்தினி சும்மா லொட லொடன்னு இப்ப கேள்விஎல்லாம் கேக்காதே 4த் ஸ்டேண்டட் வந்துட்டே ஒழுங்கா படி"ன்னு சொன்னா "அய்யோ அக்கா வேலைக்கு போயி ரொம்பவே எல்லாம் மறந்துடீங்க..நான் இப்ப 5த் ஸ்டேண்டட் "ங்கரா.
சரிடா நாம இனிமே இங்க இருந்த நல்லதில்லேனுகோவிலுக்கு ஒடிட்டேன்.

ரொம்ப நேரம் கழிச்சு வீட்டுக்கு வந்தா அப்பா "என்னம்மா உன் பிரண்டு என்னோட காபி எல்லாம்சாப்டுட்டா".அது யாருப்பா ன்னு நான் நினைக்கும் போதே "எல்லாம் வசு தான் மார்கெட்ல பார்த்தோம் அவளையும் அவ அப்பாவையும்.சேர்ந்து காபி சாப்டோம்.அவரு அன்னிக்கி முதல்ல நீ அவளோடவிளையாடற சின்ன பொண்ணுன்னு நினைச்சாராம்.உங்க பொண்ணு வேலைக்குபோறாங்கண்ணு தெரியாது.இவ கிட்ட அக்கான்னு கூப்பிட சொன்னா,இல்ல ரம்யாஎன்னோட டாக்டர் ஸெட் வெச்சு வெளயாடுவா அதலனால அக்கான்னு எல்லாம்கூப்பிடமாட்டேன்னு சொல்றா சார்".
"என் பொண்ணு குழந்தை மனசு உள்ளவனு சொல்லுங்க பா" ன்னு சொல்லிட்டு அந்த எடத்த விட்டு எஸ் அகிட்டேன்.

இப்ப நினைக்கும் போது சிரிப்பா வருது. ஆனா அந்த நினைவுகள் ரொம்ப பசுமைய்யா, சந்தோஷமா இருக்கு.மனசு சரி இல்லேன்னா ஒரு குழந்தைய போயி பாருங்க.அப்படியே லேசாகிடும்.

நேத்து நான் எங்க அபார்ட்மெண்ட்ல நடந்து வரும் போது 3 குட்டீஸ்வளையாடிக்கிட்டு இருந்தாங்க.அவங்க பால் என்னோட கால் கிட்டவிழுந்துடுச்சு.எடுத்து கொடுத்தா "திதீ ஹமாரே சாத் கேலோனா(அக்கா எங்களோட விளையாட வாங்களேன்... )"ங்கராங்க..
செரிடாப்பா இங்கயும் தொடருதானு நினைச்சுக்கிட்டே "மே தோடிதேர் கே பாத் ஆவூங்கி(நான் கொஞ்ச நேரம் பொருத்து வரேன்)"ன்னு சொல்லி சிரிச்சுக்கிட்டே வந்தாலும் மனசு கெடந்து அடிச்சிகிட்டே தான் இருந்தது :(

இன்று வலைபூக்களை படித்து கொண்டிருக்கையில் வள்ளி அவர்கள் எழுதிய இந்த பதிவை படிக்கநேர்ந்தது. அவர் கூரும் கருத்துக்களை 3 விதமாக பிரித்து கொள்வோம்

மென் துறையில் வேலை வேண்டுமா? நீங்கள் என்ன பயிற்சி பெற வேண்டும் எப்படி திறமையை வளர்த்துகொள்ளவேண்டும் என்பதை பற்றிய தெளிவான ஒரு தொடரை திரு வெட்டி அவர்களே பதிவிட்டிருக்கிறார்.படிக்க இங்கே சொடுக்கவும்.

சமூகத்தில் பெண்களின் நிலை

நம்முடைய சமூகத்தில் பெண்களின் நிலை மாறியிருக்கிறதா என்றால் "ஆம்" என்று சொல்வேன்.இப்போது பெண்கள் வேலைக்கு செல்வது மிகவும் எதார்த்தமாக கருதப்படுகிறது இன்னும் சொல்ல போனால் அவர்களுக்கு பிடித்த வேலை செய்யும் அளவு.ஆனால் நம் மனதில், பெண்களை ஆணுக்கு சமமாக எல்லா நேரங்களும் ஒப்பிடுகிறோமா என்றால் இல்லை தான். உதாரணதிற்க்கு, விஜய் டீவி வழங்கிய "நீயா நானா"வில் வாதிட்ட ஒரு பெண் "நான் பெண் என்பதால் விரும்பிய படிப்பு படிக்கவைக்க்வில்லை".இது சில வீடுகளில் இன்னும் நடக்கும் கசப்பான உண்மை.

வள்ளி அவர்களில் பதிவில் ஒருவர் பின்னூட்டதில் குறிப்பது போல் "பெண்கள் கணிதத்தில் ஆர்வம் இல்லாமல் இருக்கிறார்கள்". இதை நான் ஏற்று கொள்ள மாட்டேன்.ஏன் எவ்வளவு பெண்கள் கணிதத்தை விருப்பபாடமாக எடுத்து படிக்கிறார்கள்? பெண்/ஆண் குழந்தையோ பாடங்களை படிக்க சிரமப்பட்டால், அவர்களுக்கு பிடித்தாற்போல்,அவர்களுக்கு பிடித்தம் வருவது போல் சொல்லிதறவேண்டும்.

ஆனால், இன்னும் சிலர் கூரும் சில வாதங்கள்

1. பெண்கள் அதிக நேரம் புத்தகத்தை வைத்துக்கொண்டு மனனம் செய்து மதிப்பெண் எடுக்கிறாள்.ஆண் பிள்ளைகள் விளையடிக்கொண்டே இருந்தாலும் கடைசி நேரத்தில் படித்து மதிப்பெண் எடுக்கிறான் - இதை நான் மறுக்கிறேன் , நானும் ஒரு பெண் என்பதால் அல்ல.சில பெண்கள் இயற்கயிலேயே, "Reserved Type"ஆக இருப்பர்.ஷாப்பிங் செய்தோ,டீவி பார்தோ வீட்டிலேயே இருப்பதால் அவ்வாறு சிலருக்கு தோன்றுகிறது.ஆணோ பெண்ணோ, மனதை ஒருமித்து படித்தால்,எளிமையாக படிக்கலாம் இல்லையா?

2.சிலர் இவ்வாறு கூற கேட்டிருக்கிறேன் "பெண் IIT Coaching எல்லாம் சென்று என்ன செய்ய போகிறாள்,எப்படியும் கல்யாணத்திற்க்கு பிறகு வீட்டை பார்த்து கொள்ள வேண்டியவள் தானே". ஏன் பெண் IIT-யில் படித்தாலோ, மருத்துவம் படித்தாலோ குடும்பத்தை நன்றாக பார்த்துக்கொள்ள மாட்டாளா? அவளால் படிப்பிருந்தால் இன்னும் தீர்கமாக யோசிக்கமுடியும் தானே? Personal/Professional Life என்று வரும் போது அவர்களின் குடும்ப சூழ்நிலைக்கேற்ப முடிவெடுக்கலாம்.அதற்காக அவளின் படிப்பிற்கோ,கனவுகளுக்கோ தடை செய்ய கூடாது என்பது என் கருத்து.

மென் துறையில் பெண்களின் நிலை

1.அழகு பார்த்து வேலை கிடைக்கிறது - எல்லா உயிரினமுமே ஒரு விதத்தில் அழகு என்றாலும், புற அழகை பார்த்து வேலை கிடைப்பது இல்லை. ஒரு பன்னாட்டு நிறுவனத்தில் வேலை செய்யும் போது அதற்கேற்றார் போல் உங்களை Present பன்னி கொள்ளவேண்டும்."Toilet Slipper"ஓடு ஆபீஸ் செல்ல முடியாது தானே? உங்களுக்கு பிடித்த,வேலைக்கேற்ற decent ஆன உடைகளை அணிந்தால் "Self Confidence" வளரும்.

2.சக பெண் பணியாளர்களை மதிப்பது -
பெண்களை அவர்களின் டீம்களில் ஒரு பொருட்டாகவே கருதுவதில்லை.வேலை என்று வந்த பின்னர் ஏன் அவர்களின் பால் கருதபடுகிறது? ஏன் அவர்களால் நல்ல Solutions/Suggestions கூற முடியாதா? எனக்கு தெரிந்த வரை பெண்கள் பொருமையாக யோசித்து Long term Solutions கொடுப்பாள் என்று நம்புகிறேன்.அதற்காக ஆண்களால் முடியாது என்று சொல்லவில்லை.வேலை என்று வந்தவுடன் பால் பார்காதீர்கள்.பெண் என்பவள் கடலை போடவோ,Relax பன்னி பேசுவதற்காக மட்டுமே இல்லை.அவளும் உங்களை போல் ஏதொ சாதிக்க வேண்டும் என்ற கனவோடு வந்தவள் என்பதை சிரிதேனும் நினையுங்கள்.

3.பெண்கள் உயர் பதவியில் இருப்பது
சில நேரங்களில் பெண்கள் அவர்கள் திறமையாலே உயர் பதவியில் இருந்தாலும், அதை சிலர் ஒத்துக்கொள்ள மாட்டேன் என்கிறார்கள்.அவளின் "Character" பற்றிய பேச்சு வருகிறது.இந்த நிலை மாற வேண்டும்.Office Politics என்பது மிகவும் பரவலாக இருப்பது தான்.இதில் அப்பெணின் வளச்சியை கொச்சை படுத்த வேண்டாமே! அப்பெணின் செயல் திறமையை மட்டுமே பாருங்கள்.

Earlier post about maths made me feel that I have so many people around who have some resonance with my thoughts! Made me feel really enthusiastic to work on and present few more in this

1.Subtracting any number from 100, 1000

1. Subtract 689 from 1000

Step 1: Subtract numbers 6, 8 from 9
Step 2: Subtract unit's place value 9 from 10

1000 - 689 =
9 9 10
-6 8 9
---------
3 1 1

Ans : 1000-689 = 311
2. To divide any number from 9

Example: 32142 / 9

Step 1 : Put down 3 as it is
Step 2 : Add 3 + 2 = 5
Step 3: Add 5(From previous Step) to 1 = 6
Step 4: Add 6(From Previous Step) to 4 = 10 (Carry over 1 to previous Step.So Value in Step 3 becomes 7)
Step 5: Add 10 (From Previous Step) to 2 = 12
Step 6: Divide 12 from 9 and quotient is 1

So The answer is 3 5(6+1)(0+ 1- Quotient value) = 3571

3.To quickly divide by 5, 50 and 500

/ 5 - * by 2 and move decimal left 1 time
/50 - * by 2 and move decimal left 2 times
/500 - * by 2 and move decimal left 3 times

Example:

3456 * 5 = (3456 *2) and move decimal left 1 time = > 691.2
3456 * 50 = (3456 *2) and move decimal left 2 times = > 69.12
3456 * 500 = (3456 *2) and move decimal left 3 times = > 6.912

4.To add large numbers

238 + 644

238 = 240 - 2 (Number added to 238 to round it off)
644 = 650 - 6 (Number added to 644 to round it off)

This works fine for larger numbers also. But I feel the a better way is

456 + 567

Start adding from left to right

Adding 4 + 5 = 9.Now before concluding the digit see the numbers in next place. It is 5,6 we know that 5+6 = 11 so we have a carry over so the step becomes
(4+5) (5+6) (6+7)
9(1) 1
11 1
Now first place value from left is complete and the sum is 10

See the next place value which is 6, 7 again we have a carry over. So the step becomes
(4+5) (5+6) (6+7)
9(1) 1(1) 3
10 2 3

Ans = 1023
This method is the best and quickest method which can be achieved only with PRACTICE and able to visualize numbers.

5. To get square of a number

(12)^2

Step 1: Square 2 = 4
Step 2: Multiply (1*2) and double it => (2+2 = 4)
Step 3: Square 1 = 1

(12)^2 = 144

(123)^2

Step 1: Square 3=9
Step 2: Consider 12 as a single number. So (12*3) +(12*3) => 36+36 = 72 (Here 7 becomes carryover)
Step 3: Square 12 = 144

(123)^2 = (144+7)29 = 15129

Magic of Numbers

Mathematics/Maths is the most wonderful subject I had ever known. Nothing amuses me as solving problems in maths. I feel that the subject explains the essence of life wonderfully. There is no problem without a solution and all you need to do is to apply right logic at the right time to arrive at solution.

When It comes to learning maths, many cultivate an aversion towards the subject. Imagine it a game of numbers, then you will relish the act of problem solving.

When I was a kid I had kept a technique to deal with maths problems. I would imagine every problem to be a small treasure hunt. I would like to share few techniques which I followed and eventually ended up making it my favorite subject.

Problem Solving Technique

1.When you are given a problem, just read through it, look between the statements, you will end up finding hints which help to understand it better.
2.Split the problem to pieces and list down information available and what is to be arrived at.
3.Categorize the problem. I mean Classify which subject is it related to say Algebra,Trignometry.

I had this habit of imagining that I was flipping through pages of my textbook. Once I categorize the problem, and I find it to fit into chapter 5, I imagine that I am flipping though pages of that chapter.This may sound weird but it really helped me to track down the best fit.

4.Categorize it further to match it to a theorem/formulae.
5.List down the formulae you find related to it.
If you have followed perfectly till step 5 , Congrats you are almost there :).
6.Now place the information you have obtained from step 2 to the formulae you have.
7.With little of practice you made prior to exams and using common application knowledge you will end up finding solution to the problem.
8.Congratulate yourself for arriving at the destination(Hey you started it as finding a Treasure right..here you are!! )

Tips to Enjoy learning maths

1.Take a piece of paper and list down the chapters you have and pin it above your desk.
2.Once a chapter is complete list down all possible formulaes in a paper and file it. Take quick glances every day. You will end up memorizing them easily.
3.Practice maths problems never attempt to read them like reading a story book. Practice makes a man perfect :)! This will help you to face problems with courage in exams. During practicing problem, We tend to get stuck mid way and we try to solve them. If you face similar situation in exam, you can go over the hurdle with ease.
4.Attempt to solve problems using different approaches. Enables you to adopt new ideas. who knows you may end being a B-School grad "Thinking Out of Box" in future ;)
5.Discuss with peers and help out friends who struggle to solve problems. You will gain a lot.

I used to think myself as a teacher and practice as if I am teaching a student ;)

I am presenting few simpler techniques I learnt.

Multiplication of a two digit number with 11

What is 11 * 12 ? Oh don’t start multiplying, here is a simple method.

11 * 12 = 1 (1+2) 2 = 132

11 * 13 = 1 (1+3) 3 = 143

11 * 24 = 2 (2+4) 4 = 264

11 * 38 = 3 (3+8) 8 = 418 (Carry on from addition to be added to 3)

Square of a two digit number which is a multiple of 5

35 * 35 = (3*4) (5*5) = 1225

1.Seperate the ten's place and one's place.
2.For Ten's place multiply the ten's place number with its immediate successor .
Example: In above illustration, we have to find square of 35 so multiplying 3 with its immediate successor 4 will give the
result

65 * 65 = (6*7) (5*5) = 4225

55 * 55 = (5*6) (5*5) = 3025 Bingo!

Doesn't it look simpler and easy ? Of course you will relish the magic of numbers once you start using these techniques :)

Potato Fry in 5 minutes For Dummies

Last weekend I had a friend visiting me . Quickly flashed a thought in me to prepare Something good for her. Being dismissive to spend much time in kitchen I started to fish out for a recipe which can be cooked faster and tastier.

Hunting through my groceries I found this pack of potatoes. I realized that it had been long since I had tasted a potato fry believe me it had been nearly 6 months :(
So decided to prepare it as it goes well with rotis or rice. But the time I had to spend in frying it brought me to reality !

It was then did I think why not I use Microwave to make my job simpler. Patting myself for idea (!!!), I ventured into the task. Tuned to a strategy in developing prototype before starting a new project, I did my experiment with 1 potato ;)

Here goes the method to prepare crispy potato fry in 5 minutes

1. Slice/Dice the potatoes into thinner pieces.This would help them to get cooked faster.
2. Spread them in a Microwaveable plate and microwave them for 2 minutes.
3. Take a kadai and heat 1 tbsp of oil.(Can be varied according to taste. I prefer less oil).
4. Once the Oil heats up add channa dhal,urad dhal, dried red chilles,jeera and mustard for tadka.
5. After the mustard splutters, add a pinch of chilly powder and salt to it.
6. Later add the potato cubes and mix them well.
7. Leave it for sometime until potatoes get fried well.
8. Serve it with hot rotis or Sāmbhar and rice like a typical South Indian :P

P.S: Got few tips from amma
1.To make it further tasty, add a pinch of Besan Flour(Can be done for any fry especially for Brinjal)
2.Do not add water when you microwave it. It becomes softer and you will loose crispiness.
