Potato Fry in 5 minutes For Dummies

Last weekend I had a friend visiting me . Quickly flashed a thought in me to prepare Something good for her. Being dismissive to spend much time in kitchen I started to fish out for a recipe which can be cooked faster and tastier.

Hunting through my groceries I found this pack of potatoes. I realized that it had been long since I had tasted a potato fry believe me it had been nearly 6 months :(
So decided to prepare it as it goes well with rotis or rice. But the time I had to spend in frying it brought me to reality !

It was then did I think why not I use Microwave to make my job simpler. Patting myself for idea (!!!), I ventured into the task. Tuned to a strategy in developing prototype before starting a new project, I did my experiment with 1 potato ;)

Here goes the method to prepare crispy potato fry in 5 minutes

1. Slice/Dice the potatoes into thinner pieces.This would help them to get cooked faster.
2. Spread them in a Microwaveable plate and microwave them for 2 minutes.
3. Take a kadai and heat 1 tbsp of oil.(Can be varied according to taste. I prefer less oil).
4. Once the Oil heats up add channa dhal,urad dhal, dried red chilles,jeera and mustard for tadka.
5. After the mustard splutters, add a pinch of chilly powder and salt to it.
6. Later add the potato cubes and mix them well.
7. Leave it for sometime until potatoes get fried well.
8. Serve it with hot rotis or Sāmbhar and rice like a typical South Indian :P

P.S: Got few tips from amma
1.To make it further tasty, add a pinch of Besan Flour(Can be done for any fry especially for Brinjal)
2.Do not add water when you microwave it. It becomes softer and you will loose crispiness.

    Divya,
    It really turned out well.Guess u will love it.Was so happy to cook it so soon that only after finishing it did I realise that I missed to take a snap :P.

    Actually potatoes change color if you keep chopping them so I use to put them in a bowl of water after I start dicing them.So even after filtering out the water, you tend to have some moisture in it.

    Hey comeon .. 5 mins is an exaggeration :D ..
    My 2 cents ..
    yes potato fry is simpler than many dishes, except few like vendakka fry :). Microwaving will not give best crispiness .. so better to fry in the open
    Also, you can add besan if you have added more oil by mistake ..

    Eppdi enga cooking tipsu? :)
